POSITIVE TUTORING
Information for Parents
Free Initial Consultation
It is helpful for the tutor and your child to meet prior to you making a decision. The precise requirements can be discussed along with suitable timings, resources and any specific needs. It is always helpful for a parent/carer to observe the interaction between potential tutor and child when deciding whether to book in a set of sessions.
Session Timings
Sessions are generally 1 hour long, although this is flexible, for example, if your child needs more input coming up to exams or if they wouldn’t be able to focus for a full hour session. I can offer short-term or longer-term tutoring. Short-term could include exam preparation or targeting a few specific troublesome topics. Longer-term sessions could cover a broader range of topics and develop general confidence in your child’s ability to 'get Maths''.
Home Tutoring Space
Positive Tutoring is not currently offering online tuition and tuition would take place at your home. Tuition is best undertaken in a quiet well-organised place, which is suitable for study; away from the distractions of television, radio, X-Boxes, etc.
A bedroom is never appropriate, even if it contains a study area. It is essential that you (or another trusted adult chosen by you) remain on the premises. It is important that you have access to the teaching area and can observe and hear activity at any time you wish.
Wi-Fi
The tutor may find it helpful to access resources on the internet on their laptop or tablet so it would be helpful if they could connect to your Wi-Fi if available.
Correspondence
All correspondence (text or email) needs to be between the tutor and parent/carer and not directly between the child and tutor.
Agreements/paperwork…
If you decide to go ahead with Positive Tutoring please read through our Safeguarding Policy and Codes of Conduct (below). A Tutoring Contract form will be emailed to you.
